THE KEY TO SUCCESS. SOME THOUGHT; PART ONE.

Records are an addiction, you know that, but record hunting is an art within itself, & you are not the only person to have noticed that I have an eye for it. But, like anything in life, one only has to have an interest in something, which then grows into a passion for it to work. For me, it is all about understanding & harnessing that passion effectively. Like, I guess, a Don Juan does, when he wants to get his leg over with a real stunner. Many record dealers are cynics, who live in some dream world, always on the brink of either depression, or poverty. When I meet them, or they come round to buy off me, they look at me with such envy, & its at that stage that I realise that I`m a record collector, & not a dealer, who is turning is art, his passion into a temporary tool to earn a living until things turn around for him. It is that attitude that makes me so incredibly proud to be who I am, Matt. Because that is what makes me like Harrison Ford in the story. I, like him, & like you, have the good sense to be able to get onto my hands & knees, & clean out the bog  if I have too.  The dealer metaphorically lives in some hovel, & has been since `81, & consistently fends off the rent man. He lives in the clouds.

A Blue First, Zeppelin, a Dusk Fire, or a Sonny Clark`s, Cool Strutting, does not find this man. Records such as that seek you, you do not seek them, & its this philosophy that I adhere to. A man must understand if he is to be a success, at whatever he chooses in his life, than he must align himself with what it is he needs. He must become friends with it, get to know it, court it, & then if it deems you fit, then that thing will bless your life with its presence, & in the process, help you out too. However if you are foolish, & arrogant, then it will not. Records, or whatever you need in life, have better things to do than follow the stupid around.
